Sweet Tooth? Me too.

I could eat a 5 course dinner and still feel like I'm not full until I've nibbled on something sweet. But giving in to those sugary desires every night is a bad idea. So, I've devoted a page to sharing some of my best ways to assuage those cravings.

Healthy Banana Bread

This banana bread is AMAZING. But the best part is that it's actually amazing for you, too. One of the healthiest parts of this recipe is that I use whole wheat flour. It actually tastes infinitely more delicious with whole wheat flour because it complements the banana flavor perfectly. Plus, I throw chia seeds in for an extra healthy boost. Hand mix all these ingredients together, throw it in the oven, and prepare to crush those cookie cravings.

Dry ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Bit of cinnamon
  • Bit of nutmeg

New bowl:

  • 1/4 cup sugar (Originally, the recipes I found use 3/4. Trust me, all of that sugar is completely superfluous. Whenever you see recipes with a lot of sugar, try making it with less and see how it tastes. A lot of the time, you won't notice any difference!)
  • 1/2 cup butter-melted
  • 1/3 heaping cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

New bowl:

  • Mash 3 ripe bananas (big bananas or 3 1/2 normal)

Mix the first two bowls; then add the mashed bananas.

Optional (but highly recommended) additions:

  • dark chocolate chips
  • walnuts
  • blueberries
  • chia seeds (you won't even notice them, but they add fiber and Omega 3's!)

Pour the batter into a pan coated with flour and butter (so it doesn't stick).

Bake at 350 degrees F for 60 minutes.

Peanut Butter Paradise

Peanut butter is a delicious and high protein way to treat yourself when you team it with chocolate and banana. When my nighttime cravings kick in, I grab a banana, a jar of peanut butter, and a bag of dark chocolate chips. Spread peanut butter onto the banana and top it off with a touch of chocolate. Tasty, satisfying, and way better for you than cake.
