Splendid Spinach Smoothies

The mysterious hue of green smoothies used to intimidate me, and I made a point to stick with drinking the safe bright pink mixtures of strawberry and banana. However, now that I’ve experimented around with those scary green shades, I no longer shy away from making my smoothies dark and leafy. The thing is, if you do it right, you won’t even taste the veggies. And by sneaking in these healthy ingredients, your smoothie becomes a fiber, vitamin, and mineral powerhouse instead of a liquid dose of fruity sugar.

Do it yourself:

  • frozen banana
  • spinach (or kale)
  •  1-2 tablespoons of almond butter
  • one scoop of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • milk (almond milk or regular)
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • a dash of cocoa powder
